I am honored and humbled when I hear each woman’s response to reading my story. Here’s a glimpse at some of the responses I’ve received!

What Ashley’s book offers both to the woman who is dealing with infertility and to the woman who wants to come along her is HOPE.   Through Ashley’s candid telling of her own story, she gives all of us insight into the depths which infertility can affect a woman’s heart and spirit.   And, she offers us a picture of how we can pray for and minister to our friends who are facing this type of loss. I cannot recommend Ashley’s book highly enough.   I believe every woman will be encouraged and challenged by “How My Soul Yearns” … and that we can learn how to offer compassion to one another at a new level.

As a woman who has not struggled with infertility, I so appreciated Ashley’s book in helping me to sympathize with others going through this difficult trial. Her description of her struggle was so helpful in bringing to life the pain of a hope deferred. At the same time, the book is filled with hope and constantly (especially towards the end) points to Christ’s greatness in conquering ALL our idols, among which can certainly include children.

One thing that is especially encouraging is Ashley’s honesty about her ongoing struggle. She hasn’t “arrived” and won’t until she is with the Lord in heaven. Best of all, the book doesn’t point to Ashley’s efforts or character, but gives praise to God for his work in her life. I think this book would be helpful to any Christian woman who is going through infertility or who knows someone who is.

“Within two chapters, I was in tears. Ashley’s story is heart-wrenching. She tells of how, as a young woman, she went through excruciating physical pain only to find that her hopes of having a child almost crushed in the aftermath. Then the tale of a young bride enduring the pronouncement that it was medically impossible for her and her husband to ever conceive a child of their own. But then Ashley begins another tale… a tale of healing. A tale of faith. A tale of redemption. And the story wasn’t just about infertility anymore. The story was about real life, my life, the loss… the pain… the struggle, even with children, as I read this story of a woman’s journey through infertility. And it’s about how to truthfully say Christ is enough, come what may.”

Reading through How My Soul Yearns was a heart-wrenching, and yet hopeful and even joyful experience. Ashley Wells approaches the topic of infertility in an intensely personal, Biblical manner, and the result is truly beautiful. Infertility is such an emotional topic for so many women, and in her book Ashley not only shares her story and struggles, but she brings a message of hope and healing. “

What I love most about Ashley’s story is her honest assessment of her own longing for a child. In short, she realized her longing had turned into an idol in her life. And where she takes that realization is life-changing. In fact, I’d go so far as to say, this book would help anyone who is truly longing for something to take place … getting married, getting the right job, or just having God “fix” something in their lives. Ashley saw how she was longing for the gift more than the giver.

So many women struggle with infertility. I’ve had two friends in the last week email me about the longing in their hearts for children they can’t have. Instead of ignoring their pain, I want to enter into it with them. Ashley’s book has helped me do that. I know it could be a blessing to you–either as a woman struggling with infertility, or as a woman who has friends who are struggling. I’m thankful for Ashley’s testimony, and I pray many women will be encouraged by reading it.

This book takes an honest look at the pain and sorrow associated with infertility and reminds us that Christ is ENOUGH! I love that Ashley doesn’t mince words in reminding herself and us that although desire for children is a good thing, it can become an idol and a sin. What a refreshing book and great reminder that God is ALWAYS good! There is life after infertility and it is “life abundant.” Thank you, Ashley, for a great book.

Ashley Wells gets it.  She has been there.  She has walked the painful, emotional, and often-lonely path of infertility.  And, now, she is willing to walk that path with you.

In her new e-book How My Soul Yearns: How God Brought Me Through Infertility and Beyond, Ashley shares her experience with infertility, and how the Lord has helped her to overcome the heartbreak and hopelessness…and how He used it in her life, for good.

Because the issue of infertility is one that is very emotional for me, this book could at times be difficult to read. However, it is well-written and I found the author’s message very encouraging. So many resources on infertility address the issue from a coldly scientific perspective and tend not to focus on the emotional and spiritual issues involved. How My Soul Yearns does a wonderful job of putting this issue in scriptural perspective and I would recommend it for anyone who struggles with infertility or who cares about someone who does.
